An International Scientific Conference on the 10th anniversary of the
Malopolska Hospice for Children
Hospice care for children in Poland – achievements, challenges and perspectives

Dear Sir/Madam,

Hospice care for children is a socially important issue that includes medical sciences and contemporary development of science which allows to consider constantly the new methods of treatment and care simultaneously with introduction of  limits of medical intervention, implementation of an innovative form of care, both home, stationary and respite.

The hospice care includes also wide range of  the humanities and sociology.  From the issue of psychological support during disease and after loss of  the loved ones, through the ethical and spiritual issues, social work for families and questions about its limits, the pedagogical ones, to the legal aspects of the care as well as qualifications of the subjects which organize it.

The 10th anniversary of the Malopolska Hospice for Children’s activity seems to be a good opportunity to sum up the achievements of the hospice care in Poland to date as  it is unquestionably a well developed and effective structure. On the other hand, it may be a valuable contribution to the discussion on the next challenges and perspectives of its development in both scientific
and practical aspect.

We would like the Conference organized jointly by the Malopolska Hospice for Children, Institute of Social Work of the Pedagogical University
in  Krakow, the Neurology of Children and Young People Department of the Jagiellonian University and the Municipality of Krakow on May 10, 2016, to be a great opportunity to skill-sharing between people who are engaged in hospice care every day, both scientifically and professionally.
Simultaneously, we nurture hope that the planned post-conference publications will be a significant contribution to the scientific discourse upon contemporary palliative care of children.

We would like cordially invite you to take part in the Conference.
